    321181 - Field Hockey, Grade 5 & 6

    The Farmington Valley Field Hockey League is comprised of teams from Avon, Canton, Farmington, Granby, Harwinton, Simsbury and Wethersfield. The program includes one practice and one game per week. This is a recreational league that requires travel to away games. Each player is responsible for their own field hockey stick, cleats, mouth guard, shin guards, and eye protection. A reversible game jersey will be provided.

    Game Dates: Sundays, September 13 - October 25 (No Games: 10/11, Make-Up Date: 11/1)

    Finishing a 5K is an impressive achievement at any age. Imagine the sense of accomplishment and pride your son will feel when he crosses the finish line of Jamie's Run in Old Wethersfield on November 1! MPower Boys Running will prepare him to do just that. Modeled after popular Couch-to-5K plans, MPower’s training program is designed for all levels of runners: from very beginners to experienced racers. We will concentrate on proper form and pacing while we build endurance over the weeks through a combination of running drills, games and core strength exercises. Race registration is not included in the program fee and is not required to participate in this great program!

    321420 - Girls in Stride

    Imagine the thrill your daughter will feel as she crosses the finish line in her first race. This non-competitive training program is designed for all levels of runners. Help your daughter gain confidence, build self-esteem, and lead her to a path of health and fitness. Focus will be on using games and drills that make running fun, while also improving athletic performance for those who play other sports. As part of the program, the girls will be exposed to goal setting, journaling of training, nutrition, and mental preparation. This dynamite training program will prepare your daughter for Jamie’s Run in Old Wethersfield on Sunday, November 1! Race registration is not included in the program fee and is not required to participate in this great program!

    Farmington Recreation's 2020 Fall Soccer Program is slated to begin on Saturday, September 12 and conclude on November 8 (weather permitting) with no games on October 10 & 11.

    TRAVEL SOCCER INFORMATION
    Travel Soccer (U9 - U14/15) practices will be held twice per week at various times and locations. Specific requests for practice days and times will not be accepted. Those selected to play travel soccer must commit to the Fall 2020 & Spring 2021 seasons. All travel soccer players must register with the Town of Farmington, Recreation Division by year of birth below. For more information on travel soccer tryouts please visit www.farmingtonsoccerclub.org.

    Recreation soccer (U6 - U14) practices will be held once per week at various times and locations. Specific requests for practice days and times will not be accepted.

    Recreation soccer (U6 - U14) games will generally be scheduled on Saturays. Sunday games may be scheduled when necessary.

    Recreation Teams will be created based on several factors including but not limited to the player's home address, the school that the player attends, and the number of registrations received. Specific requests for team placement will not be accepted. Players will be notified of their team assignments approximately one-two weeks prior to the start of the season.

    Farmington Recreation's Jr. Soccer Program is an introduction to the game of soccer for those born in 2016. Clinic-like sessions will focus on the development of basic skills (dribbling, shooting, etc.) and the team concept.

    Farmington Recreation's instructional program places players in an environment that encourages practical training, imagination and self-confidence through age-appropriate coaching while fostering a competitive, professional and enjoyable atmosphere. Reassurance and care from our coaches allows every player to gain a better understanding of the game of soccer.

    Our 2020 Fall Soccer Program is slated to begin on Saturday, September 12 and conclude on November 7 (weather permitting) with no program on October 10. Our Jr. Soccer Program is scheduled for Saturdays, but make-ups may be scheduled on Sundays when necessary.

    * Please select one of the following three training sessions below. Limit 12 per session.

    ** Players will be provided with a Farmington Recreation Soccer Jersey and Coaching.

    *** Players will need a size 3 soccer ball and cleats/shin-guards are suggested.

    321711 - Tennis Lessons, Youth & Adult - Autumn

    Whether you are a beginner or a more accomplished player, you'll be sure to enjoy our Summer Tennis Lessons with United States Professional Tennis Association Pro, Paul Ratcliffe.

    All lessons are designed with the player's age and ability level in mind. Fitness, stroke development, game play, court movement and match strategy will be addressed.



    1) Tennis Lessons will be held at Farmington High School Tennis Courts.

    2) Tennis Lessons will be held on Sundays.

    3) It is expected that all participants bring their own racquets.

    4) Facemasks are expected to be worn in public when 6' cannot be maintained. Although we do not expect participants to be within 6' of one another, please arrive with a facemask available.

    5) It is expected that all participants bring their own hand sanitizer and sanitize at the start, during breaks and at the conclusion of the lessons.

    6) Please consider others and stay at home if you have any of the symptoms related to COVID-19.
