    BOYS RECREATION BASKETBALL
    Due to the current public health situation Farmington Recreation staff are working diligently to plan a modified recreation basketball program adhering to the current guidelines put forth by the State of Connecticut. Our goal, as always, is to provide the highest quality and safest basketball experience to the members of our community. Please note that adjustments to the program will be released as they are approved.

    Registration will open on Monday, October 5th for our 5th - 8th boys and girls recreation basketball leagues with games expected to be scheduled on Saturdays and/or Sundays beginning in December and concluding in February. In addition, we are accepting registrtaion for our 3rd & 4th grade program which for 2020-2021 will be clinic-like sessions slated for Saturdays and/or Sundays during the same time period unless we are able to expand based on space that is made available. Please note that all practice and game schedules are TBD depending upon facility availability. Additional details will be made available once finalized.

    Online recreation basketball registrations received between Monday, October 5 and Friday, October 30 (Deadline to Register) at noon will only require a minimum fee of $50.00 per registration upon registration as part of our Plan Now, Pay Later option. The remaining balance for the cost of the program(s) will be due prior to Wednesday, November 18...Pay Later!

    Please note that the minimum deposit of $50.00 is non-refundable but may be applied as a household credit for use for a future program if recreation basketball is cancelled due to the current public health situation.

    Please note that the number of registrations that we can accept is limited due to the space that we have available. If your child's grade/league is FULL, please email Farmington Recreation at recreation@farmington-ct.org to be placed on the waitlist. Waitlist enrollments will be accepted via email only. If/when we can secure additional space, we MAY be able to expand our program offering.

    Plan Now...
    1) Log in to your household account at https://rec.farmington-ct.org.
    2) Start shopping and select the basketball program as you normally would in the past.
    3) Once you have finished shopping, click on "Proceed to Checkout".
    4) Please review your "Summary of Charges" confirming the minimum amount due and the maximum amount due upon registration.
    5) Fill in the box entitled "Amount to be Paid Today" with the amount you are comfortable paying today between the minimum and maximum amount due as stated in the "Summary of Charges".
    6) Select "Credit Card Payment" and click on "Continue".
    7) Select your credit card type, enter your credit card number and expiration date.
    8) Click on "Submit Payment".
    9) Youíre All Set!

    Pay Later...
    1) Any time after your initial Plan Now Registration and before Wednesday, November 18 please log into your household account at https://rec.farmington-ct.org.
    2) Scroll over "My Account".
    3) Click on "Pay Old Balances" and select the program(s) with the balance due and then proceed to checkout.
    4) If you have any question regarding the Pay Later option, please contact Farmington Recreation staff at 860.675.2540.

    3rd & 4th Grade Boys Recreation
    For 2020-2021, our 3rd & 4th Grade Basketball Program will beclinic-like sessions that will focus on the development of basic skills unless we are able to expand to leagues based on space made available to Farmington Recreation. Additional details will be made available once finalized.

    5th & 6th Grade Boys Recreation
    Farmington Recreation staff determines a playerís team placement based on several factors including but not limited to the players home address and the number of registrations received. Specific requests for team placement will not be accepted. Participants will be notified of their team placement by their volunteer coach prior to 11/25/20. Those interested in volunteering to coach, please email Ryan Deneen at deneenr@farmington-ct.org.

    7th & 8th Grade Boys Recreation
    Farmington Recreation staff determines a playerís team placement based on several factors including but not limited to the players home address and the number of registrations received.     301010 - NFL Flag Football

    Farmington Recreation and the Farmington Valley MudHogs have teamed up to offer MudHogs Tackle Football, NFL Flag Football and MudHogs Cheerleading to the youth of Avon, Burlington, Canton, Farmington and Harwinton. For more information and to start the registration process, please register your child in the appropriate group below and visit MudHogs Football at www.mudhogsfootball.com.




    GENERAL INFORMATION:
    The first practices will be held on Wednesday, August 19. Practices will be held Fridays from 6:00 - 7:00 pm throughout the remainder of the season. Games will begin on Sunday, August 23 and will run through Sunday, October 18. There are no games scheduled on October 11, but this may be used as make-up date if needed.

    A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed beginning Saturday, August 1, 2020. Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after 8/5/2020.

    311041 - Martial Arts, Beginner

    Flexibility, coordination, strength and self-confidence will be developed through participation in this ancient practice. Students will be introduced to the traditional techniques of karate and jujitsu. The karate gi is recommended.

    ENTRY/EXIT PROTOCOL
    1) This program is scheduled at the Farmington Youth Center, 23 School Street, Unionville.

    2) Participants should check-in, enter and exit through the main entrance of the building. Parents and participants are asked to wear a facemask while approaching the building and upon check-in. Parents will not be able to wait indoors during class. Parents are asked to wait outside near or in their vehicles during class.

    PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOL (Subject to Change)
    This program is considered a Moderate Risk Program that involves close, sustained contact, but with protective equipment in place that may reduce the likelihood of respiratory particle transmission between participants OR intermittent close contact OR group sports OR sports that use equipment that canít be cleaned between participants. Please take note of the public health protocols list below prior to registration.

    1) Event organizers, staff, coaches and participants shall conduct daily symptom assessments (self-evaluation) and stay home if they are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19.

    2) Event organizers, staff, coaches and participants are required to wear a cloth face covering/mask at all times while inside the gymnasium/facility.

    3) Parents/guardians will not be able to wait indoors during this program. Spectators are not permitted.

    4) It is expected that all participants bring their own hand sanitizer and sanitize at the start, during breaks and at the conclusion of the program.

    5) Water fountains are not available for use. Participants shall bring plenty of water.

    6) Unless directed by the instructor, participants may/shall not bring their own materials/supplies to this program. All materials/supplies shall be sanitized by the instructor(s) at the start and at the conclusion of the program.

    7) If an event organizer, staff member, coach or participant who has been present in the program is diagnosed with COVID-19 or listed as a direct contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 the Town of Farmingtonís Recreation Supervisor must be notified about the exposure.

    8) If the Town of Farmington becomes designated RED per the Connecticut Department of Public Health Town-Level COVID Response Framework, all indoor activities may be postponed.

    Fun, energetic music and the basic knowledge or ballet, tap and jazz will be incorporated into these classes. Leotard, tights and tap shoes are required.

    In this course, participants will learn the basics of the Olympic Sport of Fencing taught by Fencing Master, Marc Ganych.

    Marc, who has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Exercise, studied Olympic Foil Fencing from 1979 to 1987. Marc is the 1984 Gold Medalist of the "First Junior Games" as well as the 1985 Bronze Medalist of the National Tournament "Blades of Ala-Tau". Marc is also the 1985 "Outstanding Fencing Technique" award winner as well as a published author of e-book "Powerful Fencing Footwork".

    Fun Run, 1.5 miles
    Participation is open to boys and girls ages 6 - 14.
    Check-In: 8:30 a.m.
    Race Start: 9:00 a.m.

    5K, 3.1 miles
    Due to the current public health situation, participation is limited to current MPower program participants in Avon, Farmington and West Hartford.
    Check-In: Racers will be notified of their check-in and start time prior to race day.
    Race Start: ~10:00 a.m. (If above 50 racers, two start times will be utilized and announced prior to race day.)

    RACE DETAILS
    1) Due to the current public health situation, participation is limited to current MPower program participants in Avon, Farmington and West Hartford. All runners will receive an MPower cinch bag, a finisher medal, and a few individually wrapped snacks.

    2) Trophies will be awarded to the top finishers in each age group of the 5K.

    3) Staggered starts to minimize course congestion.

    4) Excellent spectator course with opportunities to see runners multiple times throughout the race and plenty of room to maintain social distance.

    5) Mentor runners from the Farmington High School Cross Country team will run with the boys and keep them motivated.

    6) A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to the Farmington High School Cross Country team to thank them for their continued support of our program.

    331041 - Martial Arts, Advanced

    Flexibility, coordination, strength and self-confidence will be developed through participation in this ancient practice. Advanced students will be introduced to weaponry and kickboxing. The karate gi and sparring equipment are required for advanced students.

    ENTRY/EXIT PROTOCOL
    1) This program is scheduled at the Farmington Youth Center, 23 School Street, Unionville.

    2) Participants should check-in, enter and exit through the main entrance of the building. Parents and participants are asked to wear a facemask while approaching the building and upon check-in. Parents will not be able to wait indoors during class. Parents are asked to wait outside near or in their vehicles during class.

    PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOL (Subject to Change)
    This program is considered a Moderate Risk Program that involves close, sustained contact, but with protective equipment in place that may reduce the likelihood of respiratory particle transmission between participants OR intermittent close contact OR group sports OR sports that use equipment that canít be cleaned between participants. Please take note of the public health protocols list below prior to registration.

    1) Event organizers, staff, coaches and participants shall conduct daily symptom assessments (self-evaluation) and stay home if they are experiencing any symptoms related to COVID-19.

    2) Event organizers, staff, coaches and participants are required to wear a cloth face covering/mask at all times while inside the gymnasium/facility.

    3) Parents/guardians will not be able to wait indoors during this program. Spectators are not permitted.

    4) It is expected that all participants bring their own hand sanitizer and sanitize at the start, during breaks and at the conclusion of the program.

    5) Water fountains are not available for use. Participants shall bring plenty of water.

    6) Unless directed by the instructor, participants may/shall not bring their own materials/supplies to this program. All materials/supplies shall be sanitized by the instructor(s) at the start and at the conclusion of the program.

    7) If an event organizer, staff member, coach or participant who has been present in the program is diagnosed with COVID-19 or listed as a direct contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 the Town of Farmingtonís Recreation Supervisor must be notified about the exposure.

    8) If the Town of Farmington becomes designated RED per the Connecticut Department of Public Health Town-Level COVID Response Framework, all indoor activities may be postponed.

    CONCUSSION INFORMATION
    Per Connecticut General Statutes, programs that service children ages 7 - 19 who engage in an athletic activity such as an organized game or competition against another team or in preparation for a game or competition or who attend an athletic camp or clinic in which the purpose is to train, instruct, or prepare the participant to engage in an organized athletic game or competition to provide a written or electronic statement on the signs and symptoms of concussions to each athlete and parent/guardian upon registration.
