    BOYS RECREATION BASKETBALL

    If your child's grade/league is FULL, please contact Farmington Recreation at recreation@farmington-ct.org to be placed on the waitlist.

    Farmington Recreation's Youth Basketball Program, sponsored by locally by Dick's Sporting Goods, for youth in grades 2 - 8 is scheduled to meet mid-December through March. Those with questions specific to Recreation Basketball, please contact our office at recreation@farmington-ct.org or 860.675.2540. Please note that due to the current public health situation program information found on this page is subject to change.

    Due to facility limitations, the number of registrations accepted is restricted. Registrations will be accepted online on a first-come, first-served basis through Friday, November 12. If space remains, registrations accepted after Friday, November 12 will be subject to an additional $25.00 fee.

    - Practices will be held oncer per week at various time and locations. Specific requests for practice days and times will not be accepted.

    - Games will be held on Saturdays, January 8 - March 12 with no games expected on February 19.

    - At the conclusion of the registration period, an email will be sent to those registered outlining program information. Refunds and/or credits for sports leagues such as soccer, basketball and other team sports may not granted after the deadline to register unless Farmington Recreation can find a substitute participant.

    Please note that modifications/changes may be made per the State of CT due to the current public health situation.

    1) Farmington Recreation may divide registrants into age-based cohorts.

    2) It is expected that all participants will bring their own equipment (if applicable). It is expected that all participants will bring their own snacks (if applicable) and plenty of water/beverage. Sharing of snacks and water/beverages is strictly prohibited due to the current public health situation. It is expected that participants bring their own hand sanitizer. Program staff will schedule healthy hand hygiene and hydration breaks as needed.

    3) Although it is strongly suggested, staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) are not required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated) to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps/programs settings is required.

    4) Although it is strongly suggested for unvaccinated individuals, participants (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) are not required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for participants (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps/programs settings is required.

    5) If an event organizer, staff member, coach or participant who has been present in the program is diagnosed with COVID-19 or listed as a direct contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 the Town of Farmington’s Recreation Supervisor must be notified about the exposure.

    CONCUSSION INFORMATION:
    Per Connecticut General Statutes, programs that service children ages 7 - 19 who engage in an athletic activity such as an organized game or competition against another team or in preparation for a game or competition or who attend an athletic camp or clinic in which the purpose is to train, instruct, or prepare the participant to engage in an organized athletic game or competition to provide a written or electronic statement on the signs and symptoms of concussions to each athlete and parent/guardian upon registration.     221311 - Boys Travel Basketball

    Those interested in trying out for Boys Travel Basketball must be registered prior to Friday, October 1. Although the Travel Basketball fee of $109.00 is not required upon this registration, a minimum of $1.00 is due (system requirement). If selected for the Travel Basketball Program, payment will be due in full no later than Wednesday, October 20 at noon.

    Please note that registration for Travel Basketball tryouts does not guarantee placement in the Recreation Basketball Program if not selected. Registration for the Recreation Basketball Program will open soon, pending approval of facilities by Farmington Public Schools. A separate registration will be required at that time.

    Farmington Recreation and the Farmington Valley MudHogs have teamed up to offer MudHogs Tackle Football, NFL Flag Football and MudHogs Cheerleading to the youth of Avon, Burlington, Canton, Farmington and Harwinton. For more information and to start the registration process, please register your child in the appropriate group below and visit MudHogs Football at www.mudhogsfootball.com.

    GENERAL INFORMATION:

    Please visit www.mudhogsfootball.com to complete the required informational registration needed for team placement and communication purposes. There are no additional fees associated with this registration which is required to participate in the program.

    VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED: Please consider volunteering to coach or assist teams in this year's league. The more coaches available to help, the better experience the players will have. If you are interested in coaching or assisting, please contact NFL Flag Coordinator, Rob Murray at robioland@gmail.com


    Player evaluations will be held on Sunday, August 29 (time and location TBD). The first practices will be held on Friday, August 20. Practices are typically held Fridays throughout the season. Games will begin on Sunday, September 12 and will run through Sunday, October 24 with playoffs scheduled October 31 and November 7. Games are held between 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

    Players must have a sports mouth guard, athletic shorts, cleats (metal not permitted) or sneakers. An NFL Flag Football team jersey and NFL Flags will be provided to all players.

    A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed beginning Saturday, July 31, 2021. Absolutely no registrations will be accepted after 8/12/2021.

    301020 - MudHogs Tackle Football

    301020 - MudHogs Tackle Football

    Farmington Recreation and the Farmington Valley MudHogs have teamed up to offer MudHogs Tackle Football and the Nutmeg Youth Football League to the youth of Avon, Burlington, Canton, Farmington, and Harwinton.     GENERAL INFORMATION:
    Team conditioning practices will start on July 12, 2021 running Monday thru Thursday from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Team full practices will start on July 26, 2021, running Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. All practices will be held at Farmington High School. The week of August 2, 2021 through - the end of the season practices will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday same time (coach may choose to practice different days), until we lose daylight, at which point, times will be changed and communicated.     Games will be held Sundays beginning September 5, 2021. We will play seven games to play all teams in the Nutmeg Youth Football League. Playoffs start on October 31, 2021 and will continue until a champion is declared per division on November 14, 2021.

    TEAM PLACEMENT INFORMATION:
    MudHogs Tackle Football C Squad - Players must be registered in grade 4 and under and cannot turn 11 years old before December 1, 2021.

    Welcome to the Farmington Valley MudHogs Cheer program! Farmington Recreation and the Farmington Valley MudHogs have teamed up to offer MudHogs Tackle Football, Cheer and NFL Flag Football to the youth of Avon, Burlington, Canton, Farmington and Harwinton. Please register your child in the appropriate group below and immediately visit MudHogs Football at www.mudhogsfootball.com to complete the required informational registration for team placement and communication purposes.

    GENERAL INFORMATION:

    A Squad: Grades 7 - 8
    B Squad: Grades 5 - 6
    C Squad: Grades 2 - 4

    The first practices will run August 16 - 19 and August 23 - 26 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

    TENTATIVE: Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning August 31 through the end of the season. A&B Squads will practice 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and C Squad will practice from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. The practice location is TBD pending approval of facilities by Farmington Public Schools.

    For practices, participants should wear appropriate athletic attire, cheer sneakers, have hair up in a neat ponytail if possible and bring plenty of water.

    All squads will cheer at Farmington Valley MudHogs home games (C Squad attends until half time, A&B Squads attend full game).

    All participants will be provided with a cheer skirt, shell and midriff which must be returned at the end of the season. Participants must be sized properly for cheer sneakers at Dancingly Yours. The sneakers, briefs and hair bows will also be provided by the cheer program and will be distributed by program volunteers. Families are required to provide no-show white socks.

    October 2021: CTYFC Competition (Date & Time TBD)
    November 2021: States Competition (Date & Time TBD)

    Welcome to the Farmington Valley Field Hockey League for girls entering Grades 5-6!

    The Farmington Valley Field Hockey League is comprised of teams from Avon, Farmington, Granby, Simsbury and Wethersfield. The program includes one practice and one game per week. This is a recreational league that requires travel to away games. Each player is responsible for their own field hockey stick, cleats, mouth guard, shin guards, and eye protection. A reversible game jersey will be provided.

    Games will be played in two 30 minute halves on half of the field, 8 v 8 with no goalies.

    Game Dates: Sundays, September 12 - October 24 (No Games: 10/10, Make-Up Date: 10/31)

    Travel Soccer (U9 - U14/15) practices will be held twice per week at various times and locations. Specific requests for practice days and times will not be accepted. Those selected to play travel soccer must commit to the Fall 2021 & Spring 2022 seasons. Those not selected to play Travel Soccer will be placed in the Recreation Program. Those interested in trying out and playing travel soccer must register with the Town of Farmington, Recreation Division by year of birth below.     Farmington Recreation's Jr. Soccer Program is a parent/child introduction to the game of soccer for those born in 2017. Clinic-like sessions will focus on the development of basic skills (dribbling, shooting, etc.) and the team concept.

    Farmington Recreation's instructional program places players in an environment that encourages practical training, imagination and self-confidence through age-appropriate coaching while fostering a competitive, professional and enjoyable atmosphere. Reassurance and care from our coaches allows every player to gain a better understanding of the game of soccer.

    Our 2021 Fall Soccer Program is slated to begin on Saturday, September 11 and conclude on November 6 (weather permitting) with no program on October 9. Our Jr. Soccer Program is scheduled for Saturdays, but make-ups may be scheduled on Sundays when necessary.

    * Please select one of the following three training sessions below. Limit 14 per session.

    ** Players will be provided with a Farmington Recreation Soccer Jersey and Coaching.
