    Are you interested in learning how to train to increase your running fitness? Are you interested in getting back into running for exercise but need guidance and motivation? Come learn dynamic warm-ups and strength exercises that prevent injuries and learn different ways to get fitter and stronger as a runner! This program is designed for all levels and abilities and is coached by an Ironman World Championship qualifier who has coached running for 17 years!

    ENTRY/EXIT PROTOCOL
    1) Our Running for All Levels Program will be held on Wednesdays and will meet at the New Britain Avenue/Oakridge Parking Lot. In case of inclement weather, please contact Farmington Recreation at 860.675.2540.

    2) It is expected that all participants will bring their own lunch (if applicable), snacks, and plenty of water.

    PUBLIC HEALTH PROTOCOL (subject to change)
    Please note that modifications/changes may be made per the State of CT due to the current public health situation.

    1) Farmington Recreation may divide registrants into age-based cohorts of up to 24 in our sport specific camps/clinics.

    2) It is expected that participants bring their own hand sanitizer. Farmington Recreation staff will schedule Healthy Hand Hygiene breaks as needed.

    3) Staff, vaccinated or unvaccinated, are no longer required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for staff, vaccinated or unvaccinated, to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps settings will continue in accordance with OEC memos.

    4) Participants, vaccinated or unvaccinated, are no longer required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for participants, vaccinated or unvaccinated, to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps settings will continue in accordance with OEC memos. Participants, vaccinated or unvaccinated, will be required to wear masks while traveling to and from field trip destinations (if applicable).

    5) If an event organizer, staff member, coach or participant who has been present in the program is diagnosed with COVID-19 or listed as a direct contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 the Town of Farmington’s Recreation Supervisor must be notified about the exposure.

    Per Connecticut General Statutes, programs that service children ages 7 - 19 who engage in an athletic activity such as an organized game or competition against another team or in preparation for a game or competition or who attend an athletic camp or clinic in which the purpose is to train, instruct, or prepare the participant to engage in an organized athletic game or competition to provide a written or electronic statement on the signs and symptoms of concussions to each athlete and parent/guardian upon registration.     221410 - MPower Boys Running

    221410 - MPower Boys Running

    Finishing a 5K is an impressive achievement at any age. Imagine the sense of accomplishment and pride your son will feel when he crosses the finish line of his first 5K! MPower Boys Running will prepare him to do just that. Modeled after popular Couch-to-5K plans, MPower’s training program is designed for all levels of runners: from very beginners to experienced racers. We will concentrate on proper form and pacing while we build endurance over the weeks through a combination of running drills, games and core strength exercises.     The program fee includes a t-shirt.

    In the case of inclement weather, the program may be held inside in the school gym, pending facility availability.

    This program typically prepares participants for a local "goal race," which will be determined pending State of Connecticut COVID-19 restrictions. Race registration is not included in the program fee.

    221413 - MPower Track & Field

    This relevant and exciting program is designed for both new and seasoned athletes and serves as a fun and informative introduction to a number of Track & Field events. Program content focuses on form, strength, pace and technique. Instruction on several running, throwing and jumping events will be conducted. Come benefit from this unique program by having fun and learning about the sport of Track & Field!

    The program will conclude with a Track & Field meet at the Farmington High School Track (Day and Time TBD)

    Imagine the thrill your daughter will feel as she crosses the finish line in her first race! This non-competitive training program is designed for all levels of runners. Help your daughter gain confidence, build self-esteem, and lead her to a path of health and fitness. Focus will be on using games and drills that make running fun, while also improving athletic performance for those who play other sports. As part of the program, the girls will be exposed to goal setting, journaling of training, nutrition, and mental preparation. The program fee includes a t-shirt and training journal.
