    321080 - Olympic Fencing

    In this course, participants will learn the basics of the Olympic Sport of Fencing taught by Fencing Master, Marc Ganych.

    Marc, who has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Exercise, studied Olympic Foil Fencing from 1979 to 1987. Marc is the 1984 Gold Medalist of the "First Junior Games" as well as the 1985 Bronze Medalist of the National Tournament "Blades of Ala-Tau". Marc is also the 1985 "Outstanding Fencing Technique" award winner as well as a published author of e-book "Powerful Fencing Footwork".

    2) It is expected that all participants will bring their own equipment (if applicable). Program staff will schedule healthy hand hygiene and hydration breaks as needed.

    3) Although it is strongly suggested, staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) are not required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for staff (vaccinated or unvaccinated) to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps/programs settings is required.

    4) Although it is strongly suggested for unvaccinated individuals, participants (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) are not required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for participants (vaccinated or unvaccinated for COVID-19) to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps/programs settings is required.

    5) If an event organizer, staff member, coach or participant who has been present in the program is diagnosed with COVID-19 or listed as a direct contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 the Town of Farmington’s Recreation Supervisor must be notified about the exposure.

    321410 - MPower Boys Running

    Finishing a 5K is an impressive achievement at any age. Imagine the sense of accomplishment and pride your son will feel when he crosses the finish line of a real 5K at the end of the season! MPower Boys Running will prepare him to do just that. Modeled after popular Couch-to-5K plans, MPower’s training program is designed for all levels of runners: from very beginners to experienced racers. We will concentrate on proper form and pacing while we build endurance over the weeks through a combination of running drills, games and core strength exercises. Race registration is not included in the program fee and is not required to participate in this great program!

    321420 - Girls in Stride

    Imagine the thrill your daughter will feel as she crosses the finish line in her first race. This non-competitive training program is designed for all levels of runners. Help your daughter gain confidence, build self-esteem, and lead her to a path of health and fitness. Focus will be on using games and drills that make running fun, while also improving athletic performance for those who play other sports. As part of the program, the girls will be exposed to goal setting, journaling of training, nutrition, and mental preparation. This dynamite training program will prepare your daughter for Jamie’s Run in Old Wethersfield on Sunday, November 7! Race registration is not included in the program fee and is not required to participate in this great program!

    MPower's Speed Training program is designed and instructed by Gino Caro, a professional speed coach with experience coaching youth, high school, NCAA and NFL teams and individuals. Through correct training and education, youth will realize greater confidence, physical fitness and athletic potential. The goal of this program is to uncover, nurture and hone existing skills and endless potential. Both experienced athletes and novice alike will benefit.

    Whether you are a beginner or a more accomplished player, you'll be sure to enjoy our Summer Tennis Lessons with United States Professional Tennis Association Pro, Paul Ratcliffe.

    All lessons are designed with the player's age and ability level in mind. Fitness, stroke development, game play, court movement and match strategy will be addressed.


    ENTRY/EXIT PROTOCOL
    1) Tennis Lessons will be held on Sundays at the Farmington High School Tennis Courts. In case of inclement weather, October 24 and 31 will be used for make-up dates.

    1) Farmington Recreation may divide registrants into age-based cohorts of up to 24 in our sport specific camps/clinics.

    3) Staff, vaccinated or unvaccinated, are no longer required to wear masks outdoors. The requirement for staff, vaccinated or unvaccinated, to wear masks indoors in childcare and youth camps settings will continue in accordance with OEC memos.
