    100000 - Community Special Events

Farmington Community & Recreational Services is excited to announce that we are taking our Spring celebration on the road! The extension of Connecticut’s statewide "stay home order" will unfortunately prevent a rescheduled Spring Egg Hunt, but our Spring Bunny did not want to miss seeing all those happy faces.

So, this year, with the help of the Farmington Fire Departments, the Bunny will be going on tour throughout Farmington and Unionville on a unique, social distancing "Bunny Hop!" The Bunny will be passing through your neighborhood on a fire truck spreading spring cheer!

Click on the shopping cart below to register the primary guardian in your household for this FREE event for Farmington/Unionville residents. Your address will be added to the Bunny’s parade route on Saturday, April 4th. The parade will begin at approximately 10:00 a.m. and will continue until he drives by everyone’s home (maintaining social distancing etiquette) to wish you all a happy spring!

Follow us on Instagram @FarmingtonCommunityServices and Facebook @FarmingtonCommunityServices for live updates of the Bunny’s route.

IMPORTANT! Our annual egg hunt is a free event that benefits the Farmington Food Pantry. Last year, thanks to hundreds of community members, we donated 1,300 pounds of food! Without this donation, as well as the many school food drives that typically occur in the spring, the food pantry is in desperate need. Please consider a financial contribution to support all they are doing for Farmington residents affected by COVID-19.

    Click here to donate. https://www.farmingtonfoodpantryct.com/ways-to-help

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, APRIL 3 AT 2:00 p.m.

Follow us on Instagram @FarmingtonCommunityServices and Facebook @FarmingtonCommunityServices for live updates of the Bunny’s route.

Based on state mandates, registrants will be divided into groups of no more than 14 each week. Groups will be organized by age and these groups will stay independent and will not intermingle with other groups throughout the week. Due to this state mandate, the registration deadline for each week of camp is the Friday prior at noon which will allow us to create these groups. Please note that the deadline to register for week two (July 6 - 10) is Thursday, July 2 at noon.

Please note that upon arrival, health screenings including participants temperatures will be taken by staff before registrants/parents may proceed to the sign in table. If a participant’s temperature reads 100 degrees or above or the participant has any signs of COVID-19 symptoms, they will not be admitted to camp. If a camper shows signs of sickness throughout the camp day, they will be moved to an isolated area and immediate parent/guardian pick up will be required. In order to return, they will need a doctor's note obtaining clearance to return to camp.

Another change for this summer is the elimination of "After-Care" as well as the possible closer of camp due to extreme inclement weather. This information will be communicated via email and/or text message as it becomes available.

Although specific instructions will be emailed prior to each week of camp, please take note of the following information.

    1) REC Summer Camp will be held on the grounds at West Woods Upper Elementary School. Specific instructions regarding drop-off and pick-up will be sent via email prior to the start of each week of camp.

    2) Cancellations due to inclement weather will be communicated via email and/or phone.

    3) It is expected that participants bring their own hand sanitizer. Farmington Recreation staff will schedule Healthy Hand Hygiene breaks throughout the day.

    4) It is expected that participants bring their own sunscreen, preferably in a spray bottle in order for our staff to assist in the application as permitted.

    5) Campers need to wear socks and sneakers and bring a lunch and plenty of water. No refrigeration available.

    6) Facemasks are expected to be worn by parents/guardians upon arrival and in public when 6' social distance cannot be maintained. Please arrive with a facemask available upon check-in.

    7) Participants are not required to wear a mask during camp except while be transported to and from our field trip destination. Our staff will be required to wear masks at all times while indoors and while be transported to and from our field trip destination.

Please visit www.farmington-ct.org to access Medication Authorization and Emergency Contact Forms.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR EACH WEEK IS THE FRIDAY PRIOR TO CAMP BY 12:00 PM (NO EXCEPTIONS)

REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR WEEK TWO (JULY 6 - 10) IS THURSDAY, JULY 2 AT 12:00 P.M.
